Army Dentistry has been part of Army history for more than 125 years.
The AAD is preserving that heritage, which helps all members maintain a direct connection with this integral part of U.S. military history.
Experienced AAD members are a valuable source of information.
Mentoring and coaching members at all levels and stages of their careers is a key objective of the organization.
Members contribute directly to support morale-building activities of Army dental units.
The AAD recognizes and shares with all of its members the accomplishments of its members in support of Army Dentistry.
AAD membership provides opportunities to connect or reconnect with friends and associates.
Through the AAD members have a chance to expand their friendships and social contacts and explore new opportunities.
1902 – One contract Army dentist
1918 – 4,620 officer dentists and 891 enlisted dentists in the Army at height of WWI with 1,684 stationed in Europe
1944 – more than 18,000 Army dentists were on active duty during WWII with 7,103 serving overseas
1950-1953 – 2,641 dentists on active duty in the Army with 370 serving in Korea
1955-1975 – 2,817 active-duty dentists in the Army with 290 stationed in Vietnam at any given time.
